Mediation & Parenting Coordination

Separation and divorce often require families to make important decisions about parenting, finances, communication, and the future. While these conversations can be difficult, they do not always have to take place in a courtroom.

My Children and Me offers both Family Mediation and Parenting Coordination to help families reduce conflict, improve communication, and create healthier outcomes for parents and children.

Family Mediation

Family mediation is a voluntary, confidential, and child-focused process that helps individuals work through issues, explore options, and reach agreements with the support of a neutral professional.

As an Accredited Family Mediator, my role is to facilitate productive conversations, help identify issues that need to be addressed, and support families in reaching informed and practical agreements.

Mediation allows individuals to maintain greater control over decisions that will impact their family while often reducing conflict, time, and cost.

What Can Mediation Help With?

✓ Parenting plans and parenting schedules
✓ Decision-making responsibilities
✓ Child support
✓ Spousal support
✓ Property and financial issues
✓ Communication challenges
✓ Holiday and vacation schedules
✓ Transition planning
✓ Co-parenting concerns
✓ Conflict reduction and dispute resolution

Is Mediation Right for Us?

Mediation may be a good fit if:
✓ Both individuals are willing to participate voluntarily.
✓ You would like to make decisions together rather than have a judge make decisions for you.
✓ You want to improve communication and reduce conflict.
✓ You are prepared to exchange relevant information and participate in good faith.
✓ You are willing to explore options and consider possible solutions.

Mediation may not be appropriate if there are significant safety concerns, ongoing intimidation or coercion, or if one or both individuals are unwilling to participate in good faith.

A thorough intake and screening process is completed with each participant to determine whether mediation is appropriate and to identify any accommodations that may support a safe and productive process.

Parenting Coordination

Parenting Coordination is a child-focused dispute resolution process designed for separated or divorced parents who continue to experience conflict regarding parenting issues after an agreement or court order is already in place.

Parenting Coordination helps parents implement and follow existing parenting agreements, improve communication, and resolve day-to-day parenting disputes in a timely manner.

The goal of Parenting Coordination is to reduce conflict, support effective co-parenting, and keep children out of the middle of adult disputes.

Parenting Coordination Can Help With:

✓ Parenting schedules and transitions
✓ Holiday and vacation disputes
✓ Communication difficulties
✓ Extracurricular activities
✓ Children's routines and day-to-day decisions
✓ Interpretation and implementation of parenting agreements or court orders
✓ Disagreements regarding parenting issues
✓ Reducing ongoing conflict and improving co-parenting

Parenting Coordination May Be Helpful If:

✓ You already have a parenting agreement or court order in place.
✓ You continue to experience ongoing parenting disputes.
✓ Communication between parents has become difficult or high conflict.
✓ You would like assistance resolving parenting issues without repeatedly returning to court.
✓ You are committed to reducing conflict and supporting your children's well-being.

My Approach

My approach to both mediation and parenting coordination is practical, respectful, and child-focused.

I recognize that every family is unique. My role is not to make decisions for you or provide legal advice. Rather, my role is to facilitate productive conversations, help you explore options, reduce conflict, and support healthier outcomes for your family.

Whenever possible, I encourage parents to keep the needs of their children at the forefront while working toward practical and sustainable solutions.
